Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company Limited (BTSC), part of BTS Group Holdings Public Company Ltd., recently announced that the 35 new train cars purchased from SIEMENS in Germany have commenced shipment. The first batch of 4 train cars will arrive at Laem Chabang Port on August 20th, 2012.BTSC will then combine the new cars with the existing 3-Car train units, to form 4-Car trains. After further testing and commissioning the trains will be introduced into passenger service in October 2012. The newly combined 4-Car trains will support the increasing patronage on the Sukhumvit Line and ease passenger crowding during peak periods.
