Not Long Now! 'Keeree Kanjanapas' Plans to Launch MRT Pink Line Early Next Year
BackJuly 10th 2023 – Today, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha visited the MRT Pink Line Project, spanning Khae Rai to Min Buri, to inspect its readiness before the Trial Run phase. The inspection was led by General Anupong Paochinda, Minister of the Interior, Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Prime Minister's Office Minister, Athirat Rattanaset, Deputy Minister of Transport, along with other officials from the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Transport. The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), led by Governor Pakapong Sirikantaramas, and the concessionaire represented by Mr. Keeree Kanjanapas, Chairman of Northern Bangkok Monorail Company Limited (NBM), welcomed the delegation. Also present were executives and board members from BTS Group Holdings Public Company Limited, Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction Public Company Limited, and Ratch Group Public Company Limited.
Mr. Keeree Kanjanapas, Chairman of Northern Bangkok Monorail Company Limited, the concessionaire for the MRT Pink Line Project, revealed that the system testing and station inspection today proceeded smoothly. The current goal is to begin the Trial Run phase by the end of 2023, with the expectation of fully commencing operations by early 2024. The overall progress of the project's construction stands at 97.15%, with civil works at 96.97% complete and the railway systems at 97.34% complete.
"The MRT Pink Line is the second monorail line to be opened in Thailand, carrying equal importance to the MRT Yellow Line. It is part of the Bangkok and Mass Rapid Transit Master Plan in Bangkok Metropolitan Region (M-MAP), designed to connect Min Buri District and Nonthaburi Province. The line covers a service distance of 34.5 kilometers, including 30 stations. To enhance the route's completeness, NBM has recently extended the line by an additional 3 kilometers, incorporating two new stations: IMPACT Muang Thong Thani (Challenger Hall 1) and Muang Thong Thani Lake. This extension aims to provide convenience for over 300,000 residents and workers in Muang Thong Thani, as well as more than 10 million annual visitors attending trade shows and conferences. The extended service is expected to be operational by 2025."
Additionally, the MRT Pink Line will connect with several key rail networks. These include the Purple Line (Bang Yai - Bang Sue) at Nonthaburi Civic Center Station (PK01), the Red Line at Lak Si Station (PK14), the Green Line (Mo Chit - Saphan Mai - Khu Khot) at Wat Phra Sri Mahathat Station (PK16), and the Orange Line (Taling Chan - Min Buri) at Min Buri Station (PK30)."
